Manicuring/Nail Care Course (400 or 600 hours)
The curriculum for students enrolled in a manicurist and pedicurist course consists of technical instruction and practical operations covering all practices of a manicurist and pedicurist. The practical topics covered include Disinfection and Sanitation, Complete Pedicures, Nail Wraps and repairs, water and oil manicures, nail tips, and acrylic nails.
SUBJECT OF TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION:
- The Cosmetology Act and the Bureau’s Rules and Regulations.
- Cosmetology Chemistry related to manicuring
- Health and Safety/Hazardous Substances
- Disinfection and Sanitation
- Bacteriology, anatomy, and physiology
- Water and Oil Manicures, including hand and arm massage
- Complete Pedicure, including foot and ankle massage
- Application of Artificial Nails,
- Acrylic: Liquid and Powder Brush-Ons
- Nail Tips
- Nail wraps and repairs
ADDITIONAL TRAINING WILL BE GIVEN IN THE FOLLOWING SUBJECT MATTER:
Salon Management, communication skills that includes professional ethics, salesmanship, decorum, record keeping, client service record cards and preparing a resume, employment development, modeling, desk and reception, and care and other subjects relating to Cosmetology field.
